Martinscica is a small town located on the west coast of the island of Cres in an open bay with gentle hills. With around 200 inhabitants, it is the second largest settlement on the island and a popular tourist settlement.
Martinscica was founded as a fishing village, but over time it opened up to organized tourism due to the beautiful bay and attractive beaches that surround it. In the city, the beach is located next to a well-maintained walking path. The beach is partly pebble, partly rocky and equipped with a shower. The town beach is suitable for families with children, as it offers easy access to the sea. There are also some small trees along the beach that provide some shade. There are several small piers on the beach, which further brighten it up. In addition to the city beach, the beach in the harbor is also available to visitors. Near the town beach there are several restaurants that offer a wide selection of dishes and other tourist facilities, such as a post office, a pastry shop, a shop, a travel agency and more. Of particular interest is the restaurant, which is located within the castle or country manor, which was built in the 17th century by the Sforza patrician of Cres.
The city, as well as the bay, got its name from the church of St. Martin, which is located near the coast. In the 16th century, a Franciscan monastery was built, its monks of the third class were Glagolitic. The church of St. George is also located near the monastery.
