    Interactive map with sights

Savudrija is the most western town on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is located on the cape with the same name, which closes the southern side of the Gulf of Piran. Geographically, Cape Savudrija is the most western point of the Balkan Peninsula.
The place is administratively under the city of Umag, which is under the Istrian County. The settlement was built on a rocky coast covered with dense groves of cypresses and pines. Due to the series of picturesque small bays and rich greenery, Savudrija is an attractive tourist town. The area of Savudrija in a broader sense includes the settlements and hamlets of Savudrija (now called Stara Savudrija), Borozija, Volparija, Alberi, Valfontane, Basanija, Ravna dolina, Romanija, Gabmboc, Zambratija and Monteneto. Savudrija was the most important and largest ancient port on the Croatian Adriatic. It was deep enough for all ships, and because of its position it represented the last refuge on the waterway in the direction of Oglej, a former Roman military colony.
In Roman times, the ports were protected by two symmetrically built breakwaters on the western part of the bay. The northern breakwater was renovated in 1996 and now houses a lighthouse. There are several residential houses in a row in the Savudria bay. Here is also the parish church of St. John the Evangelist from the 11th century, which was built on the foundations of the much older Romanesque church of St. Lawrence and renovated in 1826. The monumental city fountain from the 20th century, located at the entrance to the settlement, is also interesting. Villa Cesare, or Stancija grande, is located near the port of Savudrija, which represents a real gem of Istrian rural architecture of the 19th century. It was built for a Piran nobleman and after 1877 it was renovated and extended for another owner.
Now it includes a high palace with a tower and commercial buildings, most of which are falling into disrepair. The country palace complex is included in the list of protected cultural assets within the Register of Cultural Assets of the Republic of Croatia.
