Cres Island - Martinscica

Martinscica is located in the southwestern part of the island of Cres. It is a former fishing village, which today lives entirely on tourism.

Near the place is the freshwater lake Vrana, which supplies the entire island with water. Martinscica lies in a small bay with a beautiful coast covered with fine sand. As a result, the resort is particularly suitable for families with children. Most visitors spend their holidays in the nearby Slatina camping site, which is located in the neighboring Slatina bay. The village got its name from the medieval church of St. Martin, which is located next to the Franciscan monastery and the church of St. George.

In addition, the castle, which was built in the 17th century and was once the holiday home of the Cres nobleman Sforza, is also an important cultural landmark.
