Punat is located in the southwestern part of the island of Krk, only eight kilometers away from the town of Krk. It lies in one of the most protected and safe bays, Puntarska draga. Punat has one of the largest and best equipped tourist marinas on the east coast of the Adriatic, where many famous events take place.
The first traces of settlement date back to prehistoric times to the Illyrians, Greeks and Romans. The name Punat comes from the Latin word pons, which means bridge. The main economic activities in the past were agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fishing, sheep farming, shipbuilding, but today it is dominated by tourism. Of the former activities, fishing, olive growing and sheep farming have been preserved. An old 18th-century olive oil mill has been preserved and is now a gallery. Along the road to Krk is the pre-Romanesque church of St. Donat from the old Croatian period.
Beautiful beaches and parks, lush vegetation, hotels, apartments, rooms, restaurants, bars, marina Punat, many opportunities for sports and recreation (sailing, diving, tennis, mini golf, hiking ...) attract many domestic and foreign throughout the year visitors. Next to the town of Punat is the famous island of Kosljun, which contributes to the popularity and cultural offer of the place.
