Sveti Filip i Jakov is a small settlement with a port, which lies between the Adriatic Highway and the coast of the Pasman Channel, near Biograd na Moru. It is the center of the municipality of the same name and belongs to the Zadar County.
The bathing town is about 30 kilometers away from the nearest larger city of Zadar. It is one of the most beautiful places in the Pasman Channel. Several old buildings have been preserved in the place, such as the buildings of the Borelli family, the remains of Kastel and the palaces of the Ostric and Pelicaric families. In the present area, there was a Liburnian settlement, of which only the mound cemetery and the dry stone wall have survived. In Roman times, various outbuildings and villas were built here. In the Middle Ages, the settlement was owned by the Benedictine monastery in Rogovo, of which only the Church of Saint Roch has survived. Until the 15th century, the settlement is mentioned in documents as a port and served as the most favorable exit for the Benedictines to the sea. During the Venetian era, it was attacked several times by the Turks and the inhabitants were displaced. The present core was formed in the 17th and 18th centuries around the parish church of Saint Michael, which was consecrated in 1707 to Saint Philip and Saint James. Sveti Filip i Jakov is known for its many beautiful beaches, such as Iza Banja beach, Hrvatska beach, Morovicka Turanj beach, Krca Turanj beach and beaches near Sveti Peter. Iza Banja Beach is a central beach that extends into the very center of Filip i Jakov. It is a great place for those who like sandy, pebble or rocky beaches. Visitors can choose from many activities on the beach, and those who prefer a good book can enjoy the perfect pine shade. Croatia Beach is a pebble beach, along which stretches a beautiful promenade that connects the Riviera of Saint Philip with Turanj. Morovica Turanj beach is a pebble beach located in a central location. The crystal clear sea and the sun make for an unforgettable swimming and sunbathing experience. Nearby bars and restaurants are ideal for a short break after swimming. Krca Turanj beach is a pebble beach that is ideal for sun lovers. Along the coast of Saint Peter are beaches that connect the sea and the mainland.
This charming place is characterized by peace and quiet, which is only occasionally interrupted by the sound of seagulls. The new Tustica beach is located right at the entrance to the village, at the foot of the hill of the same name.
