Fazana is a famous tourist town, which was once a fishing village. The place is located along the Fazana Canal, about eight kilometers northwest of Pula. In Fazana there are a few restaurants, bars and marinas where smaller vessels can dock. Fazana is best known as the starting point for Brioni National Park.
The reception of the National Park and the official entrance are located in the settlement. Vehicles can be parked here, as the islands can be reached by boat, which is about a 20-minute drive away. In the past, the main source of income for the inhabitants, in addition to fishing, were orchards and vineyards, which correspond to the flat belt. In the Roman period, Fazana was a center for the production of ceramic products, especially amphorae, large clay vessels, and roof tiles. Church of St. Elysee was built in the 6th century on the ruins of a late antique country manor. In the single-nave church of St. Mary from the 14th century, Gothic wall frescoes from the same century have been preserved. Parish Church of St. Kuzma and Damian is from the Gothic period, and the frescoes in it are the work of a Renaissance master. The picture on canvas entitled The Last Supper was made in 1578 by Juraj Ventura from Zadar.
In 1909, the remains of a Roman summer villa from the 1st century were found in Ribnjak bay near Fazana, which was richly decorated with floor mosaics with geometric and plant motifs. In Fazana, accommodation is available to visitors in hotels, the most famous being the Fazana Hotel, in rooms and apartments and in the Pineta camp.
