Novigrad is a tourist town located on the west coast of Istria. The Novigrad Riviera stretches from Dajla in the north to the mouth of the Mirna River in the south. This area is characterized by access and low coastline, which has landscaped sandy and rocky beaches.
Novigrad has the cleanest sea in this part of the Mediterranean. On the Riviera there are many hotels that have nearby sports fields and a varied catering offer. The old town lies on an islet that was united with the mainland in the 18th century. One of the most interesting tourist symbols of the city is the preserved medieval walls. Over the centuries, Novigrad has been under many foreign administrations and cultures - from Byzantine, Frankish, German, Venetian, Napoleonic, Austro-Hungarian and Italian, which have left visible traces in architecture. In addition to the walls, major attractions are the three-named parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Church of St Maximillian and St. Pelagius, who is also the protector of the city. Novigrad is known for its quality olive oil and excellent taverns and restaurants. At the end of July, the city hosts a traditional blues festival, which attracts many performers from around the world.
Novigrad got its first tourist guide in 1845. In the nearby town of Dajla there is an interesting rural villa, built in an area whose history dates back to the Roman period. Novigrad is distinguished by its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and the friendliness of the locals.
