Baska is a picturesque village located on the southwestern part of the island of Krk. It is a historical and cultural center, characterized by narrow streets and old stone houses in the old town. Baska became a popular tourist destination already in the 19th century.
Baska is known for its large number of pebbly beaches, of which there are around thirty. They are accessible to visitors of all generations, by boat or on foot. One of the most beautiful and largest beaches is Vela beach, which stretches in the very center of Baska. It is a natural pebble beach that is 1,800 meters long and can accommodate around a thousand bathers. It is especially suitable for non-swimmers and children, as it has easy access to the sea. Vela beach is surrounded by many bars, restaurants, hotels, private accommodation, bars and more. Bathers can rent beach umbrellas, sunbeds, windsurfing boards, pedal boats and other accessories that offer a relaxed vacation. Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has flown on Vela beach, which is now the trademark of Baska, as proof of the high quality and standard of the beach.
In addition to swimming, Baska also offers opportunities for many other activities, such as diving, climbing, cycling, walking and hiking. There are around 19 marked tourist routes in Baska, which total around 80 kilometers. Among them, there are challenging and easy ones.
