Aquarium Pula is located in the tourist resort Verudela, which is about three kilometers from the center of Pula. The aquarium has its premises in the picturesque Austro-Hungarian fortress Verudela, which was built in 1886.
The renovation of the fortress into an aquarium has been ongoing since 2002. Visitors to the Pula Aquarium can get acquainted with the inhabitants of the southern and northern Adriatic Sea, tropical sea and freshwater fish and the inhabitants of European rivers and lakes. Aquarium Pula covers approximately 2000 m2. From the top of the Verudela fortress there is a beautiful view of the city of Pula and the whole of Istria, and in the tunnel of the fortress you can refresh yourself and enjoy the summer terrace. Aquarium Pula includes the following: two-storey fortress, tunnel and tunnel around the fort, biological and chemical practicum, sea turtle recovery center, souvenir shop, summer terrace Ribnjak in the tunnel and canteen on the first floor, which offers a variety offer of Austro - Hungarian and Mediterranean dishes, exhibition of old fishing tools, photographs of Pula fortresses, marine theater for children, places to celebrate birthdays, representatives of the Adriatic fauna and flora, protected and toxic marine organisms and more.
The Pula Aquarium also has an entertainment and educational program, such as theater games, book presentations, interactive games for all ages outside and in front of the aquarium, a marine camp for children to learn marine biology and much more.
