Brela is a small settlement located in central Dalmatia, on the coast of the Makarska Riviera. The mountain massif Biokovo rises above the settlement, which is about 15 kilometers away from Brela. The place is known for its beautiful natural beauties, beaches and clear sea.
The pebble beach Punta Rata in Brela is located in a protected area on the Makarska Riviera. It spreads out on a cape covered with a pine forest and offers pleasant shade in the hot summer months. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On the western part of the beach in the sea stands the Brela stone - the symbol of Brela, the most common motif from postcards of Brela and Croatia. The rock is overgrown with pine trees that rise proudly and show off their beauty. Punta Rata beach is located about a kilometer west of the center of Brela. It is situated between a narrow strip between the mountainous Biokovo and the Adriatic Sea. It is the most beautiful beach in the whole area of Brela. The beach is marked by picturesque rocks overgrown with pine trees. Punta Rata is the holder of the blue flag, which means the purity of the sea, a varied beer and catering offer and many tourist attractions. The beach is suitable for families, as the pine shade offers protection from the hot sun. The famous beach was ranked among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world by the American newspaper Forbes. As early as 1964, the locals recognized the beauty of the beach and the surrounding area, and declared it a protected area.
Most of the surface is overgrown with Aleppo pine, which tolerates high temperatures, drought and salty winds very well. In addition to pine, the area is also covered with plantain, myrtle, pine, olive, juniper and other Mediterranean plants.
