Valun is located in the southern area of the Bay of Cres, on a steep area facing the Burja. It was created by the descent of the population from the old town of Bucevo towards the coastal part. Today, only the city cemetery and the church of St. Mark.
In the wall of the church of St. Mark, they found the famous Valun plaque from the 11th century, which, along with the plaque from Baska on the island of Krk, represents the oldest monument written in Glagolitic. The Valun plaque is now located in the Valun parish church, where it can also be viewed. The beauty of Valun is its small harbor and houses, which are placed almost on top of each other. Valun is known for its pleasant and peaceful environment and friendly locals. It is also famous for its delicious culinary offer, especially fish specialties. A shop and several small bars are also available to visitors in Valun. To the right of the port, a well-maintained path leads to a beautiful beach and the Zdovica campsite, which is a small, simple and idyllic campsite. It is located in a partially wooded area and can accommodate up to 220 guests. The camp's beach is pebbly and suitable for children, as it offers easy access to the sea. Beach Raca is located to the west of the settlement, about 700 meters from the town.
It is more beautiful beach than the beach at the Zdovica campsite, as it is characterized by small stones, crystal clear water and the surrounding dense pine forest. A few meters further from Beach Raca, there are hidden small coves that are intended for nudists.
