Kampor - Beach Melic

The island of Rab is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Kvarner Bay and administratively belongs to Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is located in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, between the islands of Krk and Pag, and is separated from the mainland coast by the Velebit Channel.

Thanks to its favourable location, Rab is well connected to the mainland by the Stinica–Misnjak ferry route, and with the island of Krk via the Valbiska–Lopar ferry line. Rab is part of the Rab island group, together with the nearby islands of Sveti Grgur and Goli Otok. Its diverse coastline, with numerous bays, peninsulas and sandy beaches, creates one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in the northern Adriatic. In addition to the town of Rab, the island's most important settlements include Kampor, Lopar, Supetarska Draga, Banjol, Barbat, Palit and Mundanije. Each of them offers its own unique combination of natural beauty, peaceful bays and authentic island atmosphere. The town of Rab is the main administrative, cultural and tourist centre of the island. It is situated on a narrow peninsula between the town harbour and St. Euphemia Bay and is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns on the Croatian islands. It is recognisable by its four Romanesque bell towers, narrow stone streets, picturesque squares and rich architectural heritage, which reflects more than two thousand years of the town's history. Visitors are also attracted by its lively seaside promenade, numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and marina, which create a pleasant Mediterranean atmosphere. Kampor is a peaceful coastal village located approximately six kilometres northwest of the town of Rab, along Kamporska Draga Bay. It is surrounded by unspoiled nature, and nearby lies the Dundo Forest Reserve, one of the best-preserved oak forests on the Adriatic islands. Kampor is also known for the Franciscan Monastery of St. Euphemia from the 15th century and the remains of a Roman settlement, which testify to the rich history of this area. Due to its tranquil surroundings, numerous walking paths and beautiful beaches, Kampor is a popular choice for families and visitors looking for a relaxing holiday. Mel Beach (Melic) is one of the most famous sandy beaches in Kampor. It is located in the bay of the same name and is especially popular among families with small children due to its exceptionally fine sand and shallow, calm sea. The beach is easily accessible by car or by sea, and a spacious parking area is available nearby. It is well-maintained and offers many opportunities for both relaxing and active leisure activities. Restaurants, bars and other catering facilities are located along the beach, while visitors can also rent sun loungers and parasols.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a beach volleyball court and a trampoline, while the youngest visitors are delighted by the wide sandy shore, which is perfect for playing. The southern part of the beach is also designated for visitors with pets. Thanks to its excellent facilities, safe swimming conditions and pleasant natural surroundings, Mel Beach is considered one of the most popular family beaches on the island of Rab.
