Rab is an island and a town of the same name in Croatia. It is one of the larger islands in the Kvarner area, which lies between Pag and Krk. One of the most famous islanders is Saint Marin, who was the founder of the Republic of San Marino.
Unlike the other islands in Kvarner, the island of Rab has few settlements. There are eight of them in total, and around 9,500 residents live in them permanently. The larger settlements are Rab, Lopar, Kampor, Banjol, Supetarska Draga, Palit, Barbat and Mundanije. In addition to these, there are two more tourist settlements on Rab, namely Suha Punta and San Marino. The central part of the island of Rab is cultivated, the hilly areas of the island are Kalifont in the southwest and Kamenjak in the northwest. Rab ranks as one of the sunniest areas in Europe. Rab fascinates with its beautiful beaches and emerald blue sea. It is considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque islands in Croatia. Rab has a rich historical heritage, which is most recognizable in the city of Rab.
Locals are known for their friendliness, hospitality and hard work. The island has the following larger bays – Lopar, Sveta Fumija, Kamporska draga, Supetarska draga, Misnjak and Sveta Mara. The island of Rab is connected to the mainland by the Misnjak - Stinica ferry line.
