The town of Lopar is a picturesque tourist settlement, which is about 14 kilometers from the old town center of Rab. Lopar is known for its outstanding natural beauty and many picturesque sandy beaches along its highly indented coastline.
Lopar is the birthplace of Saint Marino, who at the beginning of the 4th century sailed to the Apennine peninsula and founded the oldest republic in the world there - the Republic of San Marino. Lopar has a lot of accommodation at its disposal, such as the San Marino hotel complex, which includes five hotels with a main restaurant, the San Marino autocamp, which is ideal for families, and many private rooms and apartments. The most famous Lopar beach is the sandy Rajska plaza, which is 1.5 kilometers long. It is suitable for families with children, older people and poor swimmers, as well as for young people who want fun and sports activities. In the peak tourist season, it is already difficult to find a free place to sunbathe and enjoy, as most tourists from the whole island bathe on Rajska beach. There are three nudist beaches, namely the Stolac, Sahara and Ciganka beaches. The island of Rab is known as the forerunner of naturism in the Adriatic. The month of August in 1936 is often mentioned as the official beginning, when King Edward VIII of England was vacationing on the island, and the Rab authorities allowed him to swim in Kandarola Bay. As part of sports activities, Lopar has pitches for indoor football, handball, basketball, volleyball, mini golf, tennis and many bicycle paths.
In addition, visitors can enjoy water sports, a tennis school, a diving school and much more. Culinary delights are available in many restaurants. Lopar is famous for Lopar potatoes, tomatoes, figs, fish and other local specialties.
