Porec is a popular tourist town located on the west coast of Istria. The Porec Riviera stretches all the way from the Lim Channel in the south to the Mirna River Valley in the north. Well-known tourist centers are Zelena Laguna, Bijela Uvala, Plava Laguna, Brulo, Spadici, Materada, Ulika, Cervar-Porat and Lanterna.
Porec is a picturesque town with a beautifully preserved old town. The peninsula, where the old town of Porec developed, has been inhabited for thousands of years and is therefore often called a cultural monument. The historic core was once surrounded by towers and walls. The largest attractions are the North Tower by the Bay of Peskera, the Pentagonal Tower, located at the entrance to Dekumanova Street and the Round Tower overlooking the waterfront. Inside the former walls is the famous Euphrasian Basilica complex, the Romanesque House, the House of the Two Saints, the oldest square Marafor, where there is evidence of life from ancient times. A special feature of Porec is the largest Roman sanctuary in Istria - the Temple of Mars, and north of the sanctuary are the remains of the Temple of Neptune. At the crossroads of the main roads Carda and Decumanus are the baroque palaces Polesini, Vergottini and Sincic and the Gothic palaces Manzini, Leone and Zuccati. At the exit from the old town is an interesting municipal palace, which was built in the Neo-Gothic style.
The Porec Aquarium also has its premises in the old town center, where you can see the underwater world of the Adriatic Sea in 24 aquariums and get to know about 70 different species of marine organisms.
