Trogir is located in central Dalmatia, in an ideal position between major tourist centers – approximately 25 kilometers from Split and just a few kilometers from Split Airport. It belongs to the Split-Dalmatia County. In 1997, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The town is built on a small islet situated between the mainland and the island of Ciovo, connected to both by bridges. This strategic and picturesque location, together with its rich historical heritage, places Trogir among the most popular tourist destinations on the Adriatic coast. The Trogir Riva is the town’s central promenade and one of its most recognizable landmarks. It stretches along the western edge of the old town, right by the sea, where the stone facades of historic palaces rise in the background, while visitors enjoy views of the blue waters of the channel and the island of Ciovo. Along the promenade stand important historical buildings, such as Kamerlengo Fortress, a magnificent 15th-century Renaissance fortress that guards the southern part of the promenade, and the St. Mark’s Tower, which closes its northern end. Just a short walk from the Riva is the Dominican Monastery, one of the key monuments of Trogir’s sacred heritage. The promenade is arranged in a typical Mediterranean style, lined with picturesque palm trees and a wide paved walkway. It offers a rich selection of cafes, restaurants, and bars, whose terraces by the sea create a relaxed Dalmatian atmosphere. The Riva is also a starting point for boat trips that take visitors to nearby islands, hidden beaches, and other Dalmatian attractions. In the evening, it becomes a place for romantic walks and leisurely gatherings.
The combination of the historical setting – with fortresses, towers, and monasteries in the background – Mediterranean elegance, and the lively pulse of the town gives the Trogir Riva its unique charm, which many visitors consider one of the most beautiful urban promenades in Dalmatia.
