Baska Voda is a popular tourist town and port in Split-Dalmatia County, located in the northwestern part of the Makarska Riviera, beneath the stunning Biokovo mountain range, about 10 kilometers from the picturesque town of Makarska.
Historically, the locals were engaged in fishing, seafaring, and agriculture, but today tourism is the primary industry. Tourism in Baska Voda flourished after World War II. The town is known for its crystal-clear sea, high-quality hotels and restaurants, long sandy beaches, and forested surroundings. In 1912, with the construction of a pier, Baska Voda became the most important port in the area, serving as a key trading point between Zabiokov and the islands. During the Austro-Hungarian period, the town produced an impressive number of sea captains who sailed their ships along the Adriatic, from Boka Kotorska to Trieste and Venice.
The sports and tourist marina in Baska Voda is located right in the heart of the town. With its favorable geographic position and abundant sunshine throughout the year, Baska Voda is an ideal starting point for exploring the cultural, historical, and natural attractions of the Dalmatian coast and islands. The marina offers mooring services to visitors, including utilities and commercial berths. They provide annual, monthly, and daily rental options, and all berths are equipped with electricity and water connections. Boats up to 10 meters in length can be lifted or lowered, and there are separate restroom and shower facilities for marina users. The marina is well protected by a long breakwater, which features a lighthouse emitting the R BI 5s signal, with a nominal range of 5 miles.
Within the marina, you’ll find the Bava Rooftop Bar and the Putin restaurant. Bava Rooftop Bar, located atop the main building, offers an intimate terrace with a unique atmosphere. On cooler days, guests can enjoy the well-furnished and air-conditioned interior. The bar serves top-quality coffee and a wide selection of both domestic and international drinks and cocktails.
Restaurant Putin specializes in local delicacies such as Drnik prosciutto, Biokovo potatoes, and homemade olive oil, among other culinary delights. The restaurant provides stunning views of the sea, the marina, the islands, and the surrounding Biokovo mountains, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal while taking in the beautiful scenery of Baska Voda.
