Volosko - Lipovica Beach

Volosko is a picturesque coastal settlement on the western edge of Opatija in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County of Croatia. Together with Opatija, it forms part of the famous Opatija Riviera, one of the most recognisable tourist destinations in the Kvarner Bay.

The former fishing village has preserved its authentic Mediterranean character over the centuries, with narrow stone streets, old houses, a small harbor, art galleries, and excellent seafood restaurants. The village is also the starting point of the famous Lungomare coastal promenade, which connects Volosko, Opatija, Icici and Lovran and offers beautiful views of the Kvarner Bay. The route is approximately 12 kilometres long. Among the most important attractions in Volosko are the Church of St. Anne, the birthplace of the world-renowned geophysicist Andrija Mohorovicic, the fishing harbor, and the popular Lipovica and Crnikovica beaches. Lipovica Beach is located between Volosko and Opatija, right next to the Lungomare promenade. It is one of the most popular family beaches in the Opatija area, attracting visitors with its pebble shore and gently sloping entrance into the sea, which is also suitable for young children. A special advantage of the beach is the children's playground, designed for children between 5 and 10 years old, making it a popular choice for families with children. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and historic villas from the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, which provide pleasant shade and create a unique Mediterranean atmosphere. The beach is easily accessible on foot, by bicycle or by car, and parking is available nearby, approximately 200 metres away. Visitors can use facilities such as toilets, outdoor showers, catering establishments and a restaurant where they can taste local culinary specialities. The immediate surroundings also offer a wide range of accommodation options. Due to its good accessibility, numerous facilities and family-friendly environment, the beach is very popular during the summer months. Visitors looking for complete peace and seclusion may prefer one of the less crowded beaches in the surrounding area, while Lipovica mainly attracts guests with its lively atmosphere and rich offer suitable for visitors of all generations. Just a few minutes' walk from Lipovica Beach is Crnikovica Beach, one of the most popular beaches among locals. The beach combines a pebble and concrete area, with a very shallow and sandy entrance into the sea, making it particularly suitable for families with small children. Due to the calm sea, it is also a popular spot for playing the traditional game of picigin and water volleyball.

Volosko combines rich history, cultural heritage, excellent gastronomy, beautiful natural surroundings and attractive beaches, making it an excellent choice for visitors who want to experience an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere in the immediate vicinity of Opatija.
