Kraljevica is an old seaside town located at the entrance to Bakar Bay, in the center of Kvarner. It is an attractive tourist destination, characterized by a rich cultural and historical offer, many opportunities for recreation, sea and underwater activities and entertainment events.
The city covers 1753 ha of land and 365 ha of sea. The coast is indented and about 13 kilometers long. In the area of Kraljevica there are two relief regions, which are the fertile valley of Vinodol with steep slopes and the coastal area, which is slightly sloping towards the sea. About 4,500 people live in the six settlements of Bakarac, Kraljevica, Krizisce, Mali Dol, Smirka and Veli Dol. The average annual temperature is 13.8 degrees Celsius and the average sea temperature is 15.3 degrees Celsius. In the summer months, the average air temperature is around 24 degrees Celsius and the sea is around 22 degrees Celsius. There are about 80 clear days a year. In summer, the city hosts many cultural and entertainment events that attract many domestic and foreign visitors. In written sources, Kraljevica was first mentioned in the 13th century. It has a picturesque old town, where many sights are located. The largest are the church of St. Nicholas, which was built in the Middle Ages as a fortress, the old castle Zrinski and Frankopan mansion.
Important sights also include the monument to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of the city, a stone lighthouse, tuners, traditional tuna fishing systems, a shipyard and port, founded in 1729, the Liburnia Hotel, built in 1904, the Nirvana Villa from the 19th century, a monument to the fallen in the war and the National Center for Technical Culture.
