Selce is a picturesque coastal settlement in the Kvarner region, administratively part of the town of Crikvenica in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is a well-known tourist and spa destination with a long tradition, recognized for its well-maintained coastline, pleasant Mediterranean atmosphere, and a small harbor.
The administrative area also includes the settlements of Dramalj and Jadranovo. Selce is located on a gentle slope above a bay, along the Adriatic Highway (Rijeka–Split) and the coast of the Velebit Channel, between Crikvenica and the resort town of Novi Vinodolski. The area is characterized by beautiful and well-kept beaches stretching along the northern part of the coast all the way to Crikvenica. Along the shoreline runs a landscaped seaside promenade connecting Selce with Crikvenica, offering enjoyable walks by the sea. The settlement is known for its neat appearance and green areas, featuring numerous walking paths and a small park in the town center. For this reason, Selce has been awarded the Blue Flower (Modri cvijet) award several times as one of the best-maintained tourist resorts on the Adriatic. Among the most important landmarks are the Church of St. Catherine, a natural freshwater spring, the Chapel of St. Joseph, the Chapel of St. Catherine, and the Trg palih boraca Square with a monument for the National Liberation War. Selce has two main beaches, Polaca Beach and Rokan Beach. Polaca Beach is one of the most popular and frequently visited beaches in Selce. It is a well-maintained concrete beach offering comfort, safety, and good infrastructure. Visitors have access to changing cabins, showers, sanitary facilities, and the option to rent sun loungers and umbrellas. A catering facility is located in the immediate vicinity of the beach, and refreshments including ice cream are available, which is especially popular during the summer months.
The beach is easily accessible, suitable for longer stays by the sea, and popular with both locals and tourists. It is ideal for families with children, couples, and older visitors.
