The Church of St Jerome and the Franciscan monastery stand south of central Slano in a prominent position above the bay. After acquiring the Dubrovnik Littoral in 1399, the Republic of Dubrovnik permitted Bosnian Franciscans to build a monastery. The first church was completed in 1420, while the present church was erected on its foundations in the 16th century.
The simple stone façade is distinguished by a rose window and a relief above the portal. The bright interior contains a main altar and side altars, and a lapidarium also forms part of the monastery complex. The site is one of Slano's notable cultural and historical landmarks.
