Ika is a small town in Primorje-Gorski Kotar Country in western Croatia. The tourist and old fishing village in Kvarner is situated on the west coast of the Rijeka Bay between Opatija in the north-east and Lovran to the southwest.
The holiday place is surrounded by lush vegetation (laurel, chestnut trees) and 14 kilometres long promenade Lovran – Volosko goes along the coast. The tourist season with a plentiful offer lasts all over the year. Visitors to Ika can enjoy ideal quiet and peace – almost certainly the most sought after qualities on a holiday, and essential to get away the stress of daily life. The small coastal town with a population of only several hundred is especially proud of its shipbuilding and fishing traditions, which today make up part of the local tourism offer. ka is also the important university centre of the Opatija Riviera, as it is home to the internationally recognised Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, which has educated hundreds of students from all over Croatia and abroad. An exceptional event is the Fish Festival, when visitors can experience what it means to live in a coastal town like this, as they have the opportunity to help fishermen repair their nests or place the fish traps, observe the fishing boats as they set out to sea, and then taste the freshly caught fish prepared by local chefs.
Just a short distance from Ika are situated on the banks of the Adriatic Sea, the small towns Lovran and Icici. Lovran is a culinary destination for local flavors such as cherries, asparagus and chestnuts.
