Icici is a small town situated in Croatia in the north-east part of Istria country. It is located under a mountain Ucka, on the north part of the Adriatic Sea. Icici is popular tourist resort on the Opatija Riviera, nearly grown together with Opatija.
The sea has always been the major resource for the people of Icici ever since the ninth century BC when the Liburnians used to construct their fast ships along these coasts and then sail to Asia Minor and North Africa. It is therefore no wonder that this past connection with the sea has been preserved right up to today. One of the most charming villas of Liburnian sea side is without question the Secession-style Munz villa, built in 1903 by Jakob Ludwig Munz, a stone worker and owner of stone pits in Austria and constructor of the remarkable Grand Hotel of Pula. Today, Icici is most celebrated for its beautiful beach and one of the best marinas in the Adriatic. For more than a decade, Icici beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, an international symbol of high quality cleanliness and service and has been listed as one of the five best maintained beaches in Croatia. The marina, sheltered from the northern burawind by Mount Ucka, has 283 berths with water and electricity, and is the best harbour for yachts up to a length of 40 meters in the northern Adriatic. Nevertheless, Icici, gives much more than just enjoying the sea and beach. Visitors can spend an action packed holidays doing many sports activities such as sand volleyball, speedminton, tennis, beach aerobics, football and paintball at the nearby campsite.
For hiking enthusiats, there are countless marked trails leading up to Mount Ucka that start in Icici and end at the top of the highest mountain in Kvarner. On the road from Icici to the Ucka mountain you can visit the small medieval city of Veprinac.
