Makarska is a popular tourist town and port. It is located at the foot of the Biokovo mountain range on the main Split-Dubrovnik road and belongs to the Split-Dalmatia County. The place is characterized by a diverse gastronomic offer and numerous entertainment, cultural and sports events.
In the area of Makarska, all beaches are pebbly, with the exception of cement and stone surfaces, which are also used for swimming. There are no sandy beaches in this area. The most beautiful beaches in Makarska are the town beach, Nugal nudist beach, Osejava peninsula beach, Ramova and Cvitacka nudist bays, Kraljev gaj beach and Solaric beach. The town beach is about two kilometers long. It forms the largest and longest whole, as it stretches along the populated area of the western part of the city - the city port to the last hotels in the western part of the city (Hotel Romana Beach Resort and Hotel Rivijera). The central town beach is characterized by a natural pebbly coast, crystal clear sea and dense pine trees that provide natural shade. This makes it particularly suitable for families with children. In the summer season it is very crowded, but in the pre-season and post-season it is easy to find a place. Part of the town beach on the St. Peter peninsula consists of cement and rocks. Behind the lighthouse, on the outer part of the peninsula, there is a smaller nudist area. The town beach offers visitors a varied offer, such as accommodation and catering facilities and various activities related to sports and entertainment. It is possible to rent deckchairs and umbrellas and use the showers. Rescuers take care of safety. To the west of the city beach there are secluded beaches called Bilosevac. 
Next after these beaches is Cvitacka beach, which is located in an uninhabited area of Makarska. In recent years, many beach bars have opened in these two areas, where visitors can refresh and refresh themselves during the summer months.
