Split is known for many beautiful beaches, among which the most notable are the main city beach Bacvice Beach, Jezinac Beach, Kasjuni Beach, Obojena Beach, Zvoncac Beach, Znjan Beach, Prva Voda Beach, Bene Beach, Ovčice Beach, Trstenik Beach, and Firule Beach.
Zvoncac Beach is located just a short walk from the city center and offers a pleasant seaside escape very close to the urban bustle. It differs from traditional sandy bays, as it consists of well-maintained concrete sunbathing platforms and small stretches of fine pebbles that gradually slope into the clear and calm turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea. The coastline is surrounded by tall pine trees that provide natural shade, allowing visitors to comfortably spend time on the beach even during the hottest summer days. Because of this, Zvoncac is suitable for longer stays by the sea, whether on a towel or a sun lounger, in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. The sea here is exceptionally clean and often calm enough for pleasant swimming, as the bay is partly sheltered from winds. This also allows for observing marine life near the rocks, which further emphasizes the natural character of the location. Compared to more tourist-heavy beaches in Split, such as Bacvice Beach, Zvoncac has a more local and relaxed atmosphere, as it is more frequently visited by locals – families, couples, and individuals looking to unwind after daily routines. The beach also offers attractive views. The sight opens toward the Split Marina, where yachts shine in the sun, while the greenery of Sustipan Park rises nearby. On clear days, the islands of Brac and Solta can be seen on the horizon. The beach does not have large bars or restaurants, which contributes to its calm and peaceful character. Visitors can use public showers and basic changing facilities, while additional refreshment options are available near the marina and the park. During the summer months, the beach can be quite busy, especially in the afternoon and on weekends, although it is still less crowded than the most popular city beaches. The most peaceful atmosphere can be experienced early in the morning or in the evening when the sun is lower and the shoreline becomes quieter. For a more enjoyable visit, it is recommended to come in late spring or early autumn, when temperatures are still pleasant but visitor numbers are significantly lower. Access to the water is mostly gradual and easy, making it suitable for families with children. The natural shade of the pine trees is an additional advantage during hot months. Visitors are advised to arrive early, especially in July and August, as shaded spots fill up quickly.
Water shoes are useful, as some parts are pebbly or the concrete can become very hot. It is also recommended to combine a visit to the beach with a walk through Sustipan Park, which offers beautiful views of the sea and surrounding area. Due to limited parking during the season, arriving on foot or by public transport from the city center is often a better option.
