Crikvenica is located in the northern part of the Adriatic coast, in the Kvarner Bay, and belongs to the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in Croatia. It lies approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Rijeka and is in close proximity to the Vinodol Valley, which gives it a favorable transport position.
Due to its location by the sea and near the island of Krk, it represents an important tourist center of the northern Adriatic. Crikvenica is a popular seaside resort with a long and rich tourism tradition dating back to the late 19th century. It is also known as a climatic spa. The first public sea bath was built as early as 1888, and the first hotel opened in 1891. The town is characterized by a pleasant Mediterranean climate, numerous sunny days, and mild temperatures for most of the year. The town features a well-maintained coastal promenade several kilometers long, connecting different parts of the town and allowing enjoyable walks along the sea. In addition to swimming and relaxing by the sea, there are numerous cycling and walking paths, sports and recreational activities, as well as organized and diverse beaches. The most famous beaches on the Crikvenica Riviera include Crikvenica City Beach, Lanterna Beach, Podvorska Beach, Trstena Beach, Maslina Beach, Riviera Beach, Omorika Beach, Tepla Beach, Podvorska – Dog Beach, Poli Mora Beach, Vali Beach, Grabrova Beach, Karlovacko Beach, Vodna Beach, Balustrada Beach, and others. Podvorska Beach is located near the center of Crikvenica and is considered one of the most well-maintained city beaches. Part of the beach is sandy, and part is pebbly, allowing visitors to choose according to their preferences. The beach is equipped with showers, changing cabins, and options to rent sunbeds and umbrellas.
Nearby, there are parking areas, restaurants, and ice cream offerings, contributing to comfort and a relaxed day by the sea. For more active visitors, beach sports such as volleyball and trampolining are available, making the beach a popular choice for families and younger guests.
