Vransko Lake - Hardworking Hands

In the hinterland of PakostanePakostane, only a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast, Vransko LakeVransko Lake is surrounded by the characteristic stone landscape of northern Dalmatia. Alongside its natural features, the area near Biograd na MoruBiograd na Moru preserves many traces of the work of farmers, fishermen and dry-stone builders.

The Hardworking Hands interpretation point stands on the path south of the Vransko Lake - Prosika Information CentreProsika Information Centre beside Vransko Lake. It presents small stone structures and traps built into the rocky dry-stone landscape, evidence of local ingenuity in this demanding Dalmatian terrain.

Farmers and fishermen constructed such features from local limestone without mortar. The small stone opening beside the panel is a restored example of traditional dry-stone building and shows how practical structures were created from rock cleared from cultivated land.
