Trsteno Arboretum is more than a collection of historic gardens: it also preserves traces of everyday estate life in
Trsteno. Its former working buildings therefore complement the more formal terraces.
The old olive mill preserves the working side of the Gučetić-Gozze estate. The simple stone building contains tools from the 18th and 19th centuries that were used to crush olives and press the resulting paste for oil.
Large stone mill wheels, wooden press components, basins and work areas remain visible inside. The mill reveals the economic life of the estate, an aspect easily overshadowed by the elaborate gardens of the arboretum.
