Trsteno is a green coastal village about 20 kilometres northwest of 
Dubrovnik. It stretches between karst slopes and the sea, with stone houses, village lanes and exceptionally old trees lining the main Adriatic road.
The village's best-known attraction is 
Trsteno Arboretum, the historic estate of the Gučetić-Gozze family with a Renaissance and Baroque garden. Nearby stand the 
parish Church of St Vitus, two monumental 
plane trees of Trsteno and the 
memorial to King Tomislav.
Paths descend from the upper village through lush Mediterranean vegetation towards the arboretum and the small harbour by the sea. Trsteno makes an easy excursion from Dubrovnik, yet its gardens, historic buildings and viewpoints can readily fill several hours.
