Buzet - Renaissance Tower

Buzet developed in northern Istria between the Mirna valley and the karst landscape below the Ćićarija range. Historic Buzet was an important stronghold and the seat of the Captain of Rašpor, so defensive and administrative heritage meet throughout the core. Buzet is both a historic destination and a base for exploring the hills of Buzeština and the natural landscape beside the Mirna. Along the edge of the core, former defensive towers were gradually absorbed into the town’s residential fabric.

The Renaissance Tower stands at the edge of Buzet Old Town. The local information board identifies it as part of a former fortification, but does not provide a more precise date or an original internal use.

From the street, visitors can see its tall stone body, simple window openings and junction with the neighbouring buildings. These features show how the defensive structure now forms part of the compact urban fabric, but do not by themselves establish separate construction phases.
